An extra hour!

I'm walking around my house this morning super confused as to why all my clocks are showing different times? Then it hits me that it is daylight savings.... the much anticipated 'Spring Ahead'!  Of course this is the day I am awake at 5 am unable to sleep.  I thought I still had another week until this joyous event.  My sweet husband must have changed the clocks last night after I went to bed (including my bedside clock and I had no idea).  Since I have at least 30 more minutes until my girls wake up I thought I would write a post!

Quinn woke up screaming at 5 am this morning but quickly settled back down after I went in.  It sure jolted me awake though and after that I couldn't sleep as I had already had 7 hours of straight sleep... not too bad :)  I lay in bed for another hour trying to go back to sleep but couldn't as my mind was racing with all the things that normally fill it.  Is this a mom curse?  A female curse, to not be able to turn our brains off?  If you have any tips about 'not thinking' and clearing your mind please let me know (it was especially bad when I was teaching).  This is what I usually think about when I should be sleeping...

Should I send Hailey to preschool in the fall?
How much longer is it going to take to wean Quinn?
How should I set up my craft room?
When will I ever get time to sit down and sew that carseat cover for Diana and Logan?
THERE IS SOMEONE IN MY HOUSE RIGHT NOW
Ian if you don't stop snoring right now I'm going to shove you off the bed!
I want to go back to work
I don't want to go back to work
I wish I was rich
What do I need to prepare for the next R.S. activity?
I'm really hungry but I don't want to have to brush my teeth again
REALLY, SOMEONE IS IN MY KITCHEN, I JUST HEARD THEM MOVE
My blankets are all wonky
What time is it?  Am I asleep yet?
I have to go to the bathroom......

and trust me it just keeps on going.  It is like I have Sleep ADHD!  I envy Ian who can fall asleep in 30 seconds.  That must be nice!

Welcome to our Home... please proceed under the icicles of death to the front door :)

Not cut out for this job

2 is hard.... especially when I have a VERY high maintenance toddler.  I never get enough sleep and it affects every aspect of my life.  I am a mean, mean, MEAN mommy when I am tired and cranky (which, right now, is all the time).

I have always needed a lot of sleep.  In high school I always went to bed early because I needed to sleep 10 hrs to feel rested.  I still need 9 hrs for it to be a 'great' nights sleep.  I could manage with 7 straight for an 'okay' nights sleep but that is not even close to what is happening.  I get maybe 3-4 hrs without interuption and am usually up for an hour during one wakeup to feed Quinn.  Last night I was woken up probably every 45 min to an hour.

I am trying very hard to be grateful for my girls, but in all honesty, I don't like them right now.  I always loved babies growing up and thought I would work in daycare and get married at 18 and have 6 of my own kids. Turns out babies are not my specialty.  I can't wait till the girls are more independent (and for crying out loud) will sleep all night without waking me up.

Somehow I need to survive these brutal years of sleep deprivation (which, if you didn't know, is used as a form of torture!)

Heaven help me be grateful for my girls, and more patient and loving..... and please, please, PLEASE teach Hailey to deal with her emotions before I lose my mind.

So eternally tired....

I want my body back..... oh please..... I don't know if I can make it 7 more weeks.

This little girl seems to be trying to claw her way out of my uterus!  I thought Hailey was an active baby but this one is 10 times crazier.  Of course her favourite time to move around is when I am trying to sleep.  This, accompanied with a sick toddler, husband... and now myself equals very little sleep.  It has caught up to me big time and I am about to crash.  At this point I am very ready to be up with a new baby - feeding, burping and changing... as long as the sleep I do get is comfortable and deep.

I am so grateful for my family and for these precious girls who are now a part of our lives.  The miracle of life is such a gift.  I will always be grateful for it... but I will also always DISLIKE being pregnant!

Baby.... it's okay if you want to come early,

love Mommy
