Why is everything so funny?

Hailey is SO happy now (at least when she isn't hungry or tired - but even then she is laughing and playing). Everything I do she thinks is hilarious and as soon as I break out the camera she is such a poser.

Why didn't I do this sooner?

We started a bed time routine again for Hailey last night! I know you are thinking... "what you haven't done this yet?" Not true. We used to do a routine when she was 3 mths old but once she started teething everything was out the window (oh and she HATED bath time so that was out too). Of course we didn't plan on the 2 mths straight of teething followed by a cold that destroyed all semblance of normalcy. Well, she is 6 mths old now, has 2 teeth in, likes bathing again and has recovered from her cold. IT IS TIME! So after a couple nights in Edmonton of her lasting the whole night without eating I knew I better carry the pattern on.

Last night at 8 pm we fed her, bathed her, read her a story, sang a song and put her in bed at 8:30 pm. SHE DIDN'T MAKE A PEEP. Good heavens, if only this had worked the past few mths. She slept straight until 5am without a sound. That meant that I slept 6 hrs straight without interruption. BEST SLEEP EVER! (okay, well the best in the last 6 mths). I went in her room snuggled a minute, changed her diaper and had her back in bed. She stayed in bed until 8 am. I would call that a success!!!!! Too bad I couldn't go back to sleep after 5 am. I felt so rested!

This was just one night though. I am hopeful that things will continue and I will indeed get 8 hrs of sleep straight very soon.

Ready, set, crawl!

Okay... she is at the "ready, set" stage but hasn't quite figured out how to move forward. Hailey gets up on her hands and knees and rocks back and forth, at least until she face plants from pushing too far forward with her legs.

We also had a fun visit with Grandma and Katie on family day and my brother came out for a couple days of his reading week. Hailey will now smile at him and play but heaven forbid Uncle David should pick her up. We are working on it!



We all seem to be recovering from colds (thankfully); Hailey has her two bottom front teeth in (I'm still trying to get a picture of it) and we are heading back to Edmonton this weekend to give Ian peace and quiet while he completes his project and studies for his Saskatchewan Land Surveyor exams which are coming VERY soon.

Lucky girl!

Good thing this little girl is cute! It is what protects her from a very cranky Mom who is so far beyond exhausted. I thought sleeping through the night was supposed to happen once they got older. Hailey is worse now than she ever was waking up EVERY 3 hrs or less. Think about how you might feel after 6 months of no more than 6 hrs of sleep in a row. How can I get this baby to sleep through the night?!? PLEASE HELP!

I just can't get enough!

This little girl is the sweetest part of my day! Maybe not so much my night... but definitely my day. She is moving around quite a bit with her rolling, squirming and scooting and talks fairly constantly. She has started to love making noises with objects and now chews on her tongue. Her first tooth just popped through yesterday (THANK HEAVEN) but the next is only a couple days away too. Teething is not fun. She is laughing so much and I will never be able to get enough of that sweet smile!

I think I took home the wrong baby! As if Ian and I could create such a stubborn drama queen! I mean honestly.... where did my quiet, agreeable baby go?

Oh wait a second... that was a dream. Right...

Here are some recent pics of the crazy girl who is trying to cut 2-4 teeth at the same time... not so sure yet as they keep going up and down but she is MISERABLE. Oh and remember when I complained about Hailey getting up once or twice in the night? Well now it is 3-4 times. Gotta figure out how to cure this new bad habit. Hailey has also started to pull up on her knees with her bum in the air. She tries to crawl and reach things but just ends up pushing herself further backwards. It is pretty cute though as she is all over the floor now.
