Teething....

DOES IT EVER END!!!!!!

I am so tired from being up numerous times a night, and so 'done' with the whining ;)  I love my baby and feel so sad that she is suffering but besides drugging her (which I already do too often) there isn't much I can do.  Just cross your fingers that these molars/eye teeth come out QUICKLY!  I sure am.

Fort fun!

Hailey loves her fort (aka 'house').  I'm not sure if it is because with the cushions off she can climb up on the couch by herself (poor short legs) or that she likes the seclusion... probably both.  She just climbs in and out and hides while Mommy 'fee, fie, foe, fum's' over to 'get her'.  She squeals with delight and could play in there all day.  Such fun!

Shaken baby syndrome

I could not be more frustrated with Hailey's refusal to nap this afternoon.  It was a 2.5 hr battle and she is still awake.  Normally I would just let her stay up but I so desperately needed a nap myself that I wouldn't let her... of course I just kept getting angrier and angrier.  I was repeating in my head "don't hurt your child, don't hurt your child"... I think I am still saying it.  I should have quit before I started because neither of us got any sleep and I just got angry :(

More to come...

I have lots to post... just need to copy pictures from my camera in order to do it.

Almost past the first trimester and am pretty excited to be feeling better soon.  The tummy is already starting to poke out a bit... luckily I lost 10 lbs being sick so my regular clothes are too big.  I looked through my maternity clothes bin and pulled a few things out to wash that I might be able to use around Christmas... nothing drastic yet.  Why is it that clothes smell so terrible when stored for awhile?  My linen closet too... smells like stale sheets... any ideas how to keep everything smelling dryer fresh?

The craft fair is this weekend.  The first one I won't be 'in' since living in Lloyd.  I am looking forward to just browsing and buying without worrying about set-up, selling and dealing with Hailey at the same time; but sad too because it was very exciting for me.  I hope to get the vinyl bug out of my system at my upcoming VINYL PARTY.  I have so much to sell but just keep wanting to make more new things.  So many ideas and so little time.  Check out the info if you are out of town and still wish to partake in the discounts.  I can take items to Edmonton and Calgary for Christmas... but past that will require a postage fee.

I finally got to crafting this week and will post about the cookie sheet advent calendar and the fall blocks I made (links are for the tutorials others made).  Also Super Saturday is coming this weekend so there will be info on that too!  I guess I better remind Ian that he has Hailey for the whole day on his own :)

Warmth trumps Looks

Had a wonderful date today... thank you Liz for babysitting :)  We went out to get me some good winter boots.  I have NEVER had a good pair of warm, dry boots.  I figured it was time, especially if I was EVER going to take Hailey out to play in the snow (and she LOVES to be outside - too bad Mommy doesn't).

I found a really cute pair called Chloe's at Mark's....

Love these boots... well the look anyways... they didn't fit 'just right'.

We ordered these in because they didn't have my size but went to check at Factory Sports what they had.  I tried on a few but just wasn't feeling it.

I was determined to get something WARM and DRY.  I am so tired of having cold feet and wet pants in the winter.  So I decided to try these...

My feet were warmer instantly... they had room to tuck in my pants (yes I tuck in my pants whenever I can - dry pants are a MUST - plus I don't need to look hot... I'm already married ;).  They were light and fully waterproof which means lots of snow play without being wet.  I admit these babies will look pretty awesome with my dress on Sunday's but I don't care because I will be WARM and DRY.

So yes, warmth trumps looks!

Did you know?

Yes it is true... only 48 days till Christmas

I finished this countdown calendar today and I think it is pretty awesome!  I'm excited to start using it already.  I will try to post a tutorial tomorrow of how I made it.  Check for it on my crafty blog!

Yay for Fridays!

This week did go by pretty fast which is a nice change... especially considering I didn't do anything.

I'm hoping to make it out on our 6 block excursion today (turns out it is 3 blocks each way).  I will have 2 girls in tow this time so it will be extra effort pushing the double stroller (another 1 yr old that I sit).  I am determined though... especially with the promise of +17.  I'm antsy to make one of my advent calendars... well all of them really but I'm starting small!  It will be so cute... I'll show you when I'm done on my craft blog

Speaking of advents I just purchased the  other day some Shrinky Dinks that I need to complete another one.  Remember those? .... totally 80's but me and my sisters loved to colour them and watch them shrink.  Gotta love the old school!

2 blocks too far!

The plan was to walk to the scrapbook store today to pick up a couple supplies for my projects.  It isn't far... only 2 blocks each way probably.  I should have gone first thing but of course I needed to shower, put in some laundry, clean the kitchen, feed/change/feed/change Hailey and then I just had nothing left.  I am told that one day I will feel like supermom again.  I can't wait for those efficient days!

More than I can chew!

Why do I always try to do more than I can handle?  Is this common for most people?  I need to say NO more often.  I feel so guilty when I have to decline but I try to tell myself it isn't for selfish purposes... it is for my SANITY.

There are so many things I want to do right now but it is just beyond my body's capacity.  I have a mountain of laundry to do.... and no please don't offer.  That grosses me out to think about allowing someone else to do my laundry for me.  SICK!  Thank you though for thinking of it ;)  My house is a disaster....  I have so many 'projects' that are on the go, including ambitious ideas for Christmas gifts.  Thank heaven I didn't sign up to be in the craft fair this year.  I can't even imagine adding that task to my list.

I need to take each day SUPER SLOW.  If I can take a shower it is a good day.... if I can eat more than plain cheerios it is a good day.... if I go outside it is a miracle and if I go to bed later than 8 pm it was a good day.

I am hoping for more good days!

a bust

The craft group was a bust.  I am disappointed.  It was a lot of work... especially for it to not work out.  I guess I am back to crafting on my own.  Sorry to all those who would have been there!

Craft Group

This post is mostly for Royall and Kalinda... my non-facebook friends ;)  I realized you probably have heard nothing about the big craft group I started!  It is called Crafty Schmafty!  We get together each month and do some fun crafts.  You have to pay for all the supplies but I get everything together to make it nice and easy.  You really just have to come out, pay and make something cute.  I had been arranging it all on FB and didn't want you 2 to miss out because you are way cooler than the rest of us and have realized there are better things to do in life than waste time of FB... good for you.  Here is the info....

There are 3 crafts to choose from

 The Autumn Wreath - $14.75

I might not be able to find more wreaths for this... so it might not actually be an option anymore!

Fabric Wall Hangings - price depends on canvas size chosen
16x20 $5.25
11x14 $4.20
8x10 $3.15
plus 20 cents for glue sticks

Oh and you need to choose your own fabric for this project.  I couldn't begin to find fabric that everyone would like... that would match their decor.  Around .6 meters for each canvas.

Fall Blocks - $11.15

The event is THIS SATURDAY October 23rd at 6 pm at my house.  So let me know if you girls are interested.  I have 8 people signed up so far... and you can do more than 1 craft if you would like.  You just need to pay in advance - before I give you the supplies.  You can bring it that night!

Is this really happening?

It started off as a premature purchase (to say the least).  I had bought this adorable little potty chair before Hailey was even one.  I was optimistic and hopeful that she would train early.

It sat in her closet for about a month then I realized it wasn't doing any good in there so I moved it to the bathroom.

A shocking realization for me as a mother was that I would be 'observed' going to the bathroom for probably a few years to come.  I was not too pleased with having an audience but what else do you do with your little one when you just have to go?!?!?  It doesn't bother me anymore.

It was during this 'observation' time when I would sit Hailey on her potty as well and say we are going to the bathroom (she had her clothes on).  Gradually she began to come in and sit on it herself while I was going.  Then for the last month or so Ian has been sitting her on it naked just before bath time telling her "it is time to go potty".  Nothing came from that until this week.  One day she just did it.  She peed in the potty.  We were so proud of her and she was so proud of herself.   We figured it was probably just a fluke but tried again the next night... natta!  But that is really okay considering Hailey is only 13.5 months old.  We aren't pushing it at all since I have heard that can be disasterous.

Last night however was my turn to bathe Hailey as Ian was off at YM.  I did the same thing and put her on... and she did it again.  Maybe this could be a trend?  If it is, or isn't, we are okay with that.  But of course having a kid fully potty trained by 18 mths would be super awesome.  Heck, we may never need size 5 diapers for this kid :)

Anywho... Hailey is learning more everyday and it astounds me.  I get such joy from seeing her grow up and don't know how any Mom's (except obviously the ones that have to work) can miss out on this amazing experience.

They bloomed

Okay, well 2 have.  Not sure if anymore of my sunflowers will emerge since we planted so late in the spring and it has been more wet, than sunny this summer.  I am proud of them though... my first sunflowers (like I really had to do anything though ;)

Maybe I will get a couple more (fingers crossed)

Hailey turned ONE!

What an exciting year!  Hailey is such a blast.... she is overflowing with personality and I love our time together.  It amazes me that so many Mom's are so anxious to 'get back to work'.  I think Hailey is enough work for me and I can't imagine giving her to someone for 9 hrs of each day.  I have started a day home just so I can stay home with my little girl.  She has been having a great time playing with new kids.... so much so that she is refusing to nap while they are here.  We are working on it!

I love Hailey to bits and don't want to miss a thing.

Here are some birthday celebration pictures...

The Valley Zoo

This was Hailey's first trip to the zoo!  I think she liked it though she mostly just stared at everything without much of a reaction.  I supposed a couple ton Elephant is pretty mesmerizing to a little kid whose never seen one before!  She survived the merry-go-round but wasn't a huge fan of the up and down horses.  Loved the ice cream she got, as well as the magnetic limbed Zebra stuffie we brought home.  She was fascinated with the monkey's but couldn't see most of the animals as they are very good at camouflage or were too far away.  The petting zoo she also survived but you will notice that I made Grandpa take her in.  I was having nothing to do with it.  My kids will just have to get used to a Mommy who hates animals!!!!!

Oldefar and Oldemor

Great Grandpa and Great Grandma came to visit from Ontario!  This was their first time meeting their only 3 great-grandchildren (all girls).  This was their 'dying wish' though I think they still have a few good years left in them ;)

It was a nice visit, especially since we haven't seen them in years.  They had a great time with the girls!  I thought it quite funny that they took more/longer naps than the babies did.  I guess you revert back to old ways.

Here are some pictures!

At Hailey's birthday celebration we had glow bracelets.  They didn't fit on grandpas wrists so he put them on his ears.  Funny Oldefar!

The boys and their girls!

It was a blast!  We were lucky enough to have 30+ degrees everyday we were there!  We also got to stay out in the Schnell's trailer which made it a lot easier to get Hailey to sleep.  Thank you Della and Mike.  The lake was fabulous... we floated down the river, swam at the hotel pool where my family was staying, went for walks, rode the boat, went tubing, kayaking, paddle-boating and jumped on the water trampoline.  We lived on the lake and loved it!
