Hailey has become quite the 'imaginer'! Tinkerbell is her favourite friend to play with. She is currently running around the house teaching baby birds to fly... "flap your wings.... flap em... yes, your doing it"! Even though she is pretending what she has seen in movies, she is playing instead of watching t.v.....
after Quinn was born Hailey was watching a little too much t.v. (I am hoping this is a normal occurance for most mom's with newborns and toddlers just around 2 yrs old). It was the only way I could cope through the crazy first 6 months with 2 very young children with constant needs.
In the past few months the t.v. has been turned off (except a show while I make super) and Hailey doesn't even ask for it anymore. A small victory, but I am pleased to see my little girl with a very active imagination playing with toys or pretending - instead of watching television.
I love the look of joy on her face as she watches her imaginary birds flying away.... oh to be a kid again!

Making a splash!
"I did it!"
"go, go, go"
"yay"
"Look! I found it, a rock"
"I did it!"
This was way too cute. Hailey's second day splashing in puddles. She picked it up pretty quickly. I'm looking forward to a whole week of nice, splashing weather :)

Sillyness on Sunday!
This past Sunday Hailey informed us that diaper covers are supposed to be hats and that leg warmers should indeed be worn on the arm instead of the leg! I forgot to get a picture of her leggings (one on her leg and one on the same arm). She wore it like that through all of church. I didn't fight it. I am okay with letting her show some dressing independence (at least until it gets really crazy).
no she didn't wear the diaper cover on her head to church
time for a new camera.... or a slower child ;)
Hailey makes me laugh so much everyday. She is so hilarious. I can't believe the sense of humor she already has. The toddler years are going to be such an adventure :)
Art 101
I haven't done very many 'crafty' things with Hailey yet. She isn't quite at the cutting/glueing stage ;) But this weekend Ian needed the house quiet to get some work done so I pulled out the triple header! We did 3 new things that Hailey has not done before. I think she really enjoyed herself. First up we did some painting with watercolours (no pic of this). I didn't keep this one going long because she was mixing the paint colours and it was bothering me (like it matters really).
Then I pulled out some markers... duh, duh, duh! Something she will not use unsupervised for quite a while. I have seen the 'wall art' other children have made and I would prefer to avoid that as long as possible ;) I was really surprised when she tested out each marker - pulled of the lid, scribbled a bit, put the lid back on and put it off on the other side of her tray. She did this for each marker and then said 'all done'. It was kinda funny and reminded me of Ian and how methodical he is. She reminds me so much of Ian everyday :)
Playdough was the finale of the triple header. I have had this playdough for a year now but knew she was too young. She had so much fun playing with the containers that we didn't need to show her what was inside :) She knows now and had to try out every colour and asked mom to make a 'noman' (snowman) out of each colour. We made it through 9 colours when all of a sudden Hailey took a chomp out of the red playdough. I was expecting a grossed out reaction but instead heard 'num, num'. I guess she thinks playdough tastes good. I should probably not take it out again for awhile because she will just want to eat it right away. She was too cute though as she squeezed the 'balls' in her hands saying 'uish, uish' We probably lasted a good hour on these 3 projects and I had a lot of fun. I am excited to do real craft projects with Hailey as she grows up!

Late Christmas
I finally got around to getting Hailey a gift with the $ my grandparents sent her for Christmas. I picked up a doll playpen and a bottle for her baby's that makes sucking noises. So far she is having more fun playing in the play pen and 'drinking' the bottle then her dolls are!!!!
Thank you Oldefar and Oldemor for the gift :)

Water table fun
I was feeling brave (and not too tired) last week so I pulled out the water table for Hailey to play in. Of course it was a hit! She hasn't used it since last fall probably (mainly because it is way easier to clean up outside than inside). I need to make use of this more often. What other items have you put in water tables for kids to play with? I have done pasta noodles and rice.

Fort fun!
Hailey loves her fort (aka 'house'). I'm not sure if it is because with the cushions off she can climb up on the couch by herself (poor short legs) or that she likes the seclusion... probably both. She just climbs in and out and hides while Mommy 'fee, fie, foe, fum's' over to 'get her'. She squeals with delight and could play in there all day. Such fun!
